Saria started preschool this week (my baby’s growing up on me!) and in typical belated fashion, I’m now furiously hunting down a cool lunch bag or lunch box for her. Here are my favourites so far:
Dante Beatrix Lunch Bags
We love this NYC brand and these lunchbags are standout swoonsome! Made from heavy duty canvas (like their delightful backpacks), insulated, and free of dodgy stuff like PVC and lead, they also manage to make pink and blue look very cool. £20 Peanut & Pip
Crocodile Creek instantly recognisable illustrations feature across their high quality range of toys, puzzles, drinking bottles, books, and these lunchboxes amongst the range. Toxin free (no PVC), padded up to protect the food and wipe clean, there are 11 designs to choose from. £12.99 Vup Baby
Kids Konserve Lunch Sacks Loving the chic, understated appeal of these lunch sacks made from recycled water bottles. Toxin free, stack the food upright and they’ve also got an inside pocket for cutlery. Also handy for slipping into your handbag/changing bag/rucksacks for days out. £16.50 My Friendly Lunchbox
Dabbawalla Lunch Bags Sized for little people, these cool lunch bags are made from water-resistant neoprene (same as wetsuits), these hard wearing buys insulate and cushion the food, and they have a wide zipper opening and inside pockets for storing bottles. Aside from the two designs shown there’s an apple, monkey and cow. £22 Peanut & Pip
Easy Lunchbox. We love this compartmentalised lunchbox which is great for packing up a varied lunch nice and neatly. They come in sets of four and are toxin free. £14.50 for the set, My Friendly Lunchbox
Skip Hop Zoo Lunchies These little rucksack lunch bags cover off several animals including a mouse, dog, and penguin aside from the two designs shown. Toxin free, they have plenty of room and include an insulated pouch for snacks, a main compartment and mesh pockets for holding drinks bottles. £12.50-£12.99 Nubie and Peanut & Pip
Fruit Snack Pot Lunch Box Set. We’re long time fans of this cool set of varying sized snack pots with cute fruit motifs. £5.99 Juicytots – Get 10% off with the code BAMBINO10 until 30th September.
For more snack pots with Japanese style cute and cool designs, You can also try Paperchase – their new site (yes you’ll be able to buy online) – is launching next week.
Rice DK Lunch boxes. Love, love, love everything by this Danish fairtrade designer. This colourful set of 8 rectangular lunch boxes are also microwave safe and come in a variety of sizes. £11.25 Nettlegreen
Goodbyn Lunchbox. I’ve been keeping an eye on these very cool lunchboxes from the US where they’ve been a major hit. Taking the compartmentalised lunchbox to a whole new level, open it up by the ears, pack it full of all sorts of food in the various spaces (sandwiches, snacks, fruit, dips etc), it fits in a drinks bottle (comes with it), can be customised with stickers, and its totally recyclable. Available in 4 colourways, US$24.95 with shipping $12.30 Reuseit.com
Sigg Alu Mini Lunchboxes. These look very scout-ish with their tough aluminium yet sleek, minimalist appeal and they’re designed to endure. They also remind me of a (good looking) fish tin. Leak proof and featuring an epoxy coating to make them easy to clean and to ensure that the food tastes good, there’s a snap lock for closing so suitable for children who are probably closer to 5 and beyond. Will suit the child (or the parent) that wants something that doesn’t look like it’s for a child. Available in several colours, £15.89 Ready To Leave
