I adore this idea I spotted over on Gemma from MuthaHood’s Insta feed (if you don’t follow her already, start now – she’s hilarious!). Children starting a new school or nursery are often anxious and a small familiar or comforting item can really help. I’ve seen children with drawn hearts or stars on hands and arms, or wearing friendship bracelets, so that when they look at that symbol they’ll remember that Mummy or Daddy is thinking about them. Well, Gemma has gone one step further and designed an embroidered Strong Girls Club patch that can be sewn into coats, cardis, blazers or school bags. She calls them Worry Fighter patches and here’s the story behind them:
‘With Little Red starting school, I wanted to create something for her, a patch I could sew into the inside of both of our coats; something that we could fill with each of our love every morning, something to remind her that she’s totally got this, and that I’m with her all the way.’
At just £2.50 each, they make a great spontaneous gift for a friend going through tough times – I’m going to stock up for Christmas. Available for pre-order now.
