Natalie writes…If you’ve been reading this blog for long enough, you’ll know that one of my many penchants is for baby blankets. Even though I do love them quirky and bright, that hasn’t stopped me from becoming a fan of Blanc Cocoon’s baby blankets, which are in the more traditional vein but are made from luxurious pure woven wild silk with a soft, pure silk satin edge.
I checked out a couple of their blankets recently and aside from being wowed by the attention to detail with packaging – wrapped up beautifully and smelling like musky heaven – I’m bowled over that they’re silk but more akin to a cashmere throw.
UK based Blanc Cocoon use ‘wild silk’ from Asia which is an eco friendly and ethical alternative to farmed silk. Like a number of natural fibres rising in popularity, it achieves a constant temperature keeping your bambino warm in winter and cool in summer, plus it repels dust mites, is naturally anti-allergenic, and can even absorb about a third of its weight in moisture without being clammy.
Cot blankets (90 X 120 cm) and pram blankets (90 X 70 cm) are normally £78 and £55 respectively, but if you like your pinks or blues, they’re 25% off at the moment in their winter sale. You can also get them in ‘natural’ (my favourite).
They come with their own storage bag (another nice touch) and are beautiful gift ideas. You can go the extra mile for a christening, for instance, by using their bespoke monogramming service which is between £16-£20 for up to 4 initials with 5 colour options available for the threads, and three different type styles.
