My friend Michelle tipped me off about Rokka Play having spotted it in a design magazine. The brainchild of Cornish mamas Sam and Vanessa, the Rokka is a versatile toy that grows with your little one. The starter pack consists of a birch plywood Rokka seesaw, and a Cornish fishing boat accessory pack containing a vibrant sail, two seat pads, four giant wooden spoons (perfect as paddles), bright orange fish fasteners and a small spoon. At £234, it’s certainly not cheap, but turned upside down, it becomes a table and chairs, making it a really useful bit of kit, particularly if you’re short of space. It’s also incredibly stylish – I’d feel happy to have it in my lounge.
If the novelty of a boat wears off (or even if it doesn’t) you can purchase a kitchen add-on for £70, above. It comes with a sink and tap, hotplate, washing machine and oven doors, but the inclusion of  shelving and a pelmet mean it functions just as well as a shop. For budding Oliviers, there’s an accessory pack of curtains and backdrop to transform your Rokka into a theatre, £36, below. This is a great little innovation and I can imagine lots of alternative possibilities for other packs in the future. Watch this space…
