Loving the look of Land of Kids, a brand new one-day festi for little ones. Brought to you by the gang behind Land of Kings, Dalston’s annual arts festival, it’s ‘suitable for children between the ages 2-12 and their very kind folks’ and set to feature ‘a world of curiosities’. As an ex-Hackney dweller myself, I can’t wait to see what east London’s finest arty folk have in store. Walk the plank and make an eye patch at Camp Bestival favourites Lost & Found‘s pirate school, join masters of promenade theatre Punchdrunk for a storytelling adventure, strip the willow with ceilidh kings (and my chums) Cut a Shine, have tea with a pearly king and queen and print your own magazine with Anorak. There are myriad workshops and activities on offer, from seed bomb and shadow puppet making to recycled drumming and reggae nursery rhymes. I’m particularly looking forward to Momma Loves’ Speed Birthday Parties, featuring games, cake and goodie bag in just 15 minutes – imagine all the free time you’d have if that was a reality! Tickets cost £19.50, but then all activities (including face painting and awesome nail art from WAH nails) are free.
