Until recently, I’d only heard of rooibus (pronounced royboss) in the context of tea but now it’s a key ingredient in Creatures, a new natural baby and toiletries range. Renowned for its healing properties back in its native South Africa where it’s used to treat a variety of common problems including eczema, South African founder Marike Fichardt has created a hypoallergenic, PH balanced range which includes other ingredients such as lavender, camomile, shea butter, and aloe vera, and contains no nasty chemicals, with all natural colour and fragrance. Made in the UK with recyclable packaging featuring the illustrations of children’s book author and illustrator John Butler, there’s an all round strong ethical ethos.
We checked out the toddler’s body mousse and body foam wash and both certainly smell lovely with what I can only describe as a vaguely sweet herby smell that I can’t quite put my finger on. The foam, for instance, lathers on quickly and a little goes a long way – incidentally the foam is created by the pump not by any dodgy chemicals!
As with most of natural skincare products aimed at children, I’ve come to expect it at a premium although they’re not exceedingly pricey. £8.50-£9.50 each for individual items, 220ml-420ml and gift sets are £35 each.
