For a while it was a bit quiet on the highchair front here on BG but in a matter of days that’s all changed with the mention of Silver Cross’ new Doodle highchair, and now stylish innovators Brother Max have stepped up with their new Scoop Highchair.
Suitable from 6 months to about 5 years, it features a sleek egg styled seat on a diner stool type frame. There’s an ergonomic seat liner (the blue and red pictured) for comfort and support of babies, a pneumatic lift for height adjustment, plus a 360 degrees rotation and smooth gliding castors to make it easy to move around. Interestingly, it can be completely lowered to fit under your table when you want to store it out of sight and it’s cleverly designed so that it can be used with or without a harness, although the harness is supplied. When they’re old enough, it converts into a stylish stool.
They’re currently exclusive to Kiddicare and will be available from 1st June. The RRP is £279.98 although the pre-order price is £259.99, putting these at the high end of the market, competing with the likes of Bloom’s Nano highchair, the Mozzee Nest, and Mama’s & Papa’s Loop highchair. High price does seem to kick in with the premise of a chair having a longer life by being multi-functional. I haven’t seen the Scoop Highchair in the flesh but I do look forward to checking it out and seeing if the price is justified, especially in these crunchy times where even the design conscious want plenty of bang for their style buck.
