For the next while, we have The Pushchair Track, a daily feature where I’ll be highlighting at least one pushchair or pram plus must have accessories every day because I realise that there are a hell of a lot out there on the market. Naturally it’ll only be stylish (but functional) numbers but they will be in a variety of budgets, weights, and styles to suit the traditionalist right through to the contemporary mama (and papa).
Today’s pushchair is fairly recent addition to the market, the Nipabout 3 in 1 Travel System which comes from the Out n About stable, the same peeps that are responsible for Phil n Ted’s.
It’s a three wheeler with a fairly light aluminium frame that comes in at 8kg with the seat on, which is 1.2kg heavier than the Micralite Fastfold. To compare, the Quinny Buzz is 12kg and the Bugaboo Chameleon is 9kg. And trust me, every kg makes a difference!
Speaking of the Bugaboo, the seat on the Nipabout certainly reminds me of it as does the super lengthy handlebar!
It has a 3 position recline, removable bumper bar, quick release wheels, and a compact fold although I do find that with the great majority of travel systems, you do need a decent sized car boot or you need to remove the wheels. For me as the shopaholic, the shopping bag looks a little dinky but you can never tell that well just based on photos.
You can buy adaptors for £14.95 to make it compatible with the Maxi Cosi CabrioFix car seat. Personally, I think the fact the highly popular and highly rated Maxi Cosi car seat does give it a certain level of kudos because they don’t just go on any old pushchair!
The RRP is £359 and this includes the carrycot, seat, raincover, and a bug net. Like the Quinny Buzz, you’ll need to buy other accessories like the shopping basket and footmuff separately. That’s My Baby Direct seem to be cheapest at £269.99 or next cheapest is Kiddicare for £279.97.
Ideal for: Modern parents that don’t want to go too wild on colour.
Bang for your style buck: This is great..but safe colour style in the mid priced travel system market.
Weight range: Light in the context of travel systems, mid weight in comparison to a lightweight pushchair.
Don’t forget that you can see other pushchairs and prams we’ve featured in The Pushchair Track.
