Another discovery at MADE craft fair, was Woodchild – an exquisite collection of blankets, inspired by traditional nursery styles, designed in Brighton and knitted in Scotland. The 75 x 100cm blankets are made in two ways. The first, a lambswool/angora-mix, is knitted on a double bed machine to produce a reversible jacquard effect – my favourite is the Connor, £89, which has an oh-so-50s look, featuring cars and trains zooming through a Fair Isle pattern.
The second range is made from super-soft felted lambswool that screams out to be snuggled up in – loving the vibrant candy-striped Vincent, £55. As the winter chill sets in I’m seriously tempted by these – they would also make a very special gift for a newborn. Woodchild also produces adorable little lambswool slippers, for £15 a pair, but they’re not available on the website yet – I’ll have a word with them and get back to you.
