For all the exclusive, designer gorgeousness out there, sometimes you just can’t beat handmade. Of the myriad items my two own, three that always get commented on are a neon orange blanket knitted by my mum’s friend, a red cardi with ladybird buttons made by Granny Boo and a bright green bird print dress sewn by my friend Nat’s mum. So, it’s no surprise that I was drawn to new (ish) Brit brand What Mother Made.
The collection is designed for babies to children aged eight and features traditional shapes – think dungarees, puffy rompers, pinafore dresses – rendered in brights, florals and African prints. Each item is handmade (in Dalston no less), so if you want it in a different colour or pattern, just holler. I am head over heels in love with the mustard overalls, £36, and Ghanian blanket, £35, which would make a brilliantly unique new baby gift.
