If your children are anything like mine, there’s little more exciting to them than receiving something addressed personally to them through the postbox. Which goes some way to explaining the rising popularity of subscription schemes such as Weekend Box Club. It is definitely one of the best I’ve come across, both in terms of content and value. You pay £15 per month (although you can pause or cancel any time) and a box of goodies will wing its way to you every two weeks. In each box you’ll get four activities to do with your little one – Something to Make, Something to Cook, Something to Read or Write and Something Green. Our box contained a pom pom ladybird make, stuffed peppers recipe, awards certificates to fill in and salad seeds – all of which Alfie has enjoyed. We’re enthusiastic crafters, cookers and growers here anyway, so I probably wouldn’t sign up long term, but I can really see the benefits of the Weekend Box if you’re less confident about your art or culinary skills or if you’re just in need of a little inspiration. And your little one’s delight at getting them through the post is well worth it. If you sign up this month you’ll get your first two boxes for just £5 each.
