Last year when I posted about Red Jewellery Boxes, The Quick Brown Fox left a plea for contemporary jewellery boxes with a replacement for the traditional ballerina spinning inside. Luckily for the quick brown fox cubs, French brand Trousselier are already on the case and have a whole host of options on offer.
With a range of boxes encompassing both the traditional ballerina through to more contemporary girls’ and even boys figures Trousselier have well and truly cornered this market. Having done some extensive searching online I have found a few good sources for these boxes but nowhere seems to stock them all.
Petit Home have the best range of contemporary girls’ designs with prices at £19 for the larger jewellery box style (above left) and £15 for the smaller square version (above right). Beandrops have a range of the traditional styles including ballerinas, flower fairies and horses in both the large jewellery box style and smaller flower and heart shaped boxes from £12.99.
If you are looking for something more gender neutral or a treasure box for boys you won’t be disappointed either. I found this fabulous Jungle musical box with a rearing zebra (below left) from Children Salon for £12.95. There is a funky rainbow fish for £14.90 and Prince and dragon for £11.38 both from Amazon. There is a gorgeous range featuring a Little Prince (below right) but I couldn’t find any online in the UK so if you know of somewhere with this design leave the link in comments below. I did find some from €9.90 at La Boutique du Petit Prince but postage to the UK came in at a whopping €16.
For everyone who can’t resist a little nostalgia I even found my very own 1980s style Night Time Ballerina jewellery box (pictured below) for £10.90 at Soup Dragon.
