We’re getting to the stage where we won’t need to drag the travel cot everywhere we go for Kitty (hurrah!), so I’ve been on the hunt for inflatable toddler travel beds. So far so TV character-branded pink nightmare. Luckily I was pointed in the direction of LittleLife, producers of those invaluable animal backpacks, and their ever-so-cute Penguin Snuggle Pod, £39.98. It’s a cotton sleeping bag with hollowfibre insulation and a super-soft fleece-lined top section, all in the shape of a penguin. This can be used on its own or slipped over an easily inflated airbed with stabilsing ‘wings’ to stop your little one rolling onto the floor and the bed tipping over. We had one to try out and it was a bit hit with both children once we’d blown it up, although initially they didn’t observe the no jumping rule… It comes with a foot pump for inflating and deflating, but I’d recommend investing in a battery powered pump for speed, noise and sanity reasons. The best bit is that it all folds down to fit into a backpack with Purdy the penguin design, making it ideal for sleepovers. It’s going to be great in the bell tent in festival season – I’ll report back.
