Gabriele Galimberti’s photography project looks at children around the world and their favourite playthings from Maudy in Zambia with her collection of sunglasses to Pavel in Ukraine with his toy guns via Louis in Colombia and his games consoles. Galimberti spent over a year travelling to over 50 countries to capture children with their most treasured possessions and it’s a fascinating insight into cultures, consumerism and the differences and similarities between children across the globe. I love how proud the children are of their toys, whether that be Botswanan Bolthe with her single stuffed monkey or Alaskan Callum with his sledges and snow shovels. The exhibition runs from 7 June to 14 December at The Museum of Childhood, while the hardback book Toy Stories (Abrams, RRP £14.99) is available now.Â
