Another review from the fabulous Brighton Fringe, which really has excelled with their children’s theatre programme this year. My Pet Monster and Me is based on the story by Bill Davies and tells the tale of a lonely little girl, Sophie, who finds an egg on her farm, which she nurtures until it eventually hatches into a loveable little blue monster, George. He doesn’t stay little for long though, but now Sophie has a pal to share her amazing imagination with. This production, from Blunderbus Theatre, mixes acting, singing and puppetry to rip-roaring effect and there was plenty to keep nearly four-year-old Kitty entertained for the hour, including lots of burp jokes and toilet humour. She declared it, ‘Really funny!’ which is always a good endorsement. Suitable for three to seven year olds, the show is going on tour through June and July to Camberley, Taunton and Hartlepool amongst others – see the website for details.
