So, I’ve decided to feature something Brighton-y every day this week as Monday and yesterday strangely panned out that way anyway. Today is the turn of The Sundae Club, a Brighton institution, held over all the floors of The Komedia. We went to one back in June and the amount of stuff to do was mind-blowing. We put together and decorated our own (working) clocks, dressed up and paraded on stage, made our own ice cream sundaes, created old-fashioned movie cameras from popcorn boxes, watched silent films, listened to stories, experienced the wonderful theatre production Liang and the Magic Paintbrush and danced to house band The Swing Ninjas. All in four hours – phew! Events are repeated at different times, so you can, theoretically, do everything on offer. This month’s club, on Sunday, is themed around Film and the Future, as part of the Cinecity festival. Little visitors can make a glowing moon, before watching Wallace & Gromit’s A Grand Day Out, learn how to dance like a robot, create an interactive story with Doctor Splat, enjoy slapstick performance, Flatpack, decorate a giant robot, as well as all the usual dancing, storytelling and crafting. £8.50 per adult and £6.50 per child (or £25 for a family of four), it starts at 10.30am, finishes at 2.30pm and, yes, grown ups, the bar is open at lunchtime…
PS: If you’re busy this Sunday, you can book for January (The Big Freeze) or February (Topsy Turvy: A Science Festival Special) Sundae Clubs.
