You’re a BG reader, so it’s safe to assume that you’re already a fan of bright colour and children’s books. The two come together beautifully in the gorgeous Stripe Island by Tupera Tupera (Thames & Hudson, RRP £8.95). The Japanese husband and wife team have created a dreamy world where everything – from the trees, the houses, the sea, the food and the animals to the people themselves – is stripy. The simple text, which introduces us to a small boy, Stanley, who lives in Stripe City, and explores the Festival of Stripes, will appeal to little ones, while the quirky, vibrant illustrations will appeal to everyone and reveal new surprises on every reading.
