Jon Klassen is one of my favourite children’s book illustrators – I Want My Hat Back and This is Not My Hat are firm favourites with Kitty and Alfie. And now, so too is Sam & Dave Dig a Hole (Walker, RRP £11.99), a collaboration with Mac Barnett. It’s a heart-warming tale of two men and a dog embarking on one adventure, missing out on treasure and ending up having a different adventure all together. The simple story and pictures gel beautifully and the plot twists and quick-witted dog never fail to make Kitty giggle.
