Exciting news – There’s a new Stokke Xplory. It’s undergone a bit of an evolution and the new version is sleeker and there’s definitely more finesse. Structurally the ergonomic design is more balanced with the centre of gravity being dispersed to all four wheels and they’ve aimed for greater ease of use. Appearance wise, the profile has changed because the new larger, more robust hood which offers greater protection, has really softened the design giving it a cocoon appeal. The footrest has been smoothed with curves and this has actually made a big difference as it’s really helped to soften the design further, plus it can now be adjusted with one hand.
As someone who has assembled a Stokke Xplory, I like the idea of all the textiles pre-assembled so that you’re ready to roll plus the textiles have all had a redesign and there are new rich colours deep red, purple, navy, green, blue, and beige. There’s a larger shopping bag (always a must) and the changing bag can now be fixed to the chassis.
The other big change (but it won’t be out until July) is that Stokke have collaborated with BeSafe to create the Stokke iZi Sleep(R), a two positional car seat that can recline when put onto the pushchair. It requires no adaptors and it can be used with an isofix base for easier mounting in the car.
As is the case with most travel systems, most accessories are extra (there are a lot of them which they have billed for dressing your stroller for every occasion). The RRP for the Xplory Basic is £769 and for the Xplory Complete which includes chassis, seat, carrycot, raincover, mosquito net, and shopping bag is £829. You can order from Dinky Inc who also sell all of the additional accessories.
