We haven’t seen it in action yet and it’s debuting at the Kind and Jungend Baby Show in Frankfurt tomorrow but for all you Bugaboo lovers who weep at the thought of letting go of yours to get a different brand double pushchair, behold the…Donkey.
Yes Bugaboo who are fond of naming their pushchairs after animals (Bee, Gecko, Chameleon), have gone for ‘Donkey’ for their double because “The characteristics of a donkey perfectly reflect Bugaboo’s new stroller as it’s well known for its ability to carry both luggage and people with ease. They are also known for being faithful, intelligent and eager to learn.” It’s funny because they wouldn’t be the first things that spring to mind when I think of ‘donkey’…but let’s just shout ‘bygones’ and do a jig and rejoice that there is another double on the rather small double pushchair block.
Converting from a full size mono to a full sized side by side double in just three clicks, at a glance it’s managed to retain the aesthetics that have made their pushchairs highly popular and desirable making the double look like a natural extension. Like any double, I expect it to be weighty and of course with it being a side-by-side duo it’ll practically need its own parking space and I’m curious to see how it folds down and is stored away. It does, I see, also have some very impressive storage space for shopping trips.
No word on price yet, but if we play a game of ‘higher or lower’, I’m thinking that it will be at least £900 because you know they’re like the Apple of pushchairs and whack a premium on. I reckon it’s going to go down very well when it comes out!
