You know sometimes you just get a book that you know will be read, read and read again? Well, Zubert by Charlie Sutcliffe (Tate, RRP £11.99) is an instant classic in our house – both Alfie and I keep choosing it at story time. I love the whimsical illustrations and the fact it’s set in the Savoy Hotel, he loves ‘the pictures, the animals and the silly words’. It tells the tale of a small boy enlisted to help a flock of ‘spinglefranks’ clear the hotel of troublesome animals before the inspectors arrive, which they do using all manner of ‘slightly magic’ techniques. So far we’ve managed to spot something new on every page with each rereading – always a sign of a good children’s book.
