If you’re a regular reader you’ll know that Claire and I both love picking up bargains at the brilliant TK Maxx. It’s consistently great for homeware and toys and recently the kidswear section has really upped its game with Scandi prints and luxe labels often appearing on both the in-store rails and virtual shelves. The collections for spring/summer are particularly strong and, as both Alfie and Kitty seemed to have sprouted in their sleep (how do they do that?) and needed new togs we decided to invest in a few pieces for the new season.
Kitty is a big fan of dresses, so there was a lot to love for her in the girls’ section (although we spotted plenty of unisex styles as well) – we picked up a gorgeous twirly red jersey frock with a frill and a cool blue embroidered summer dress. We also bagged this super-cute floral playsuit that can be worn with tights or leggings now, then bare legged for summer. All of them hugely discounted, but perfectly on trend.
Alfie was looking for soft textures on the boys’ rails, so he opted for bright orange sweat shorts and this zipped jacket, plus a pair of cool insect-print joggers. He also needed new trainers and was thrilled to find a grey and blue pair with a pop of red in his size. If your children are into sportswear you’ll be spoiled for choice with the array of activewear for kids, from high-performance base layers to waterproofs, via track tops and trainers, all for up to 60% less than retail prices.
TK Maxx is also a fantastic destination for children’s gifts that won’t break the bank – we regularly buy books for the pressie drawer and, on this occasion, snapped up a gorgeous rainbow kite and a pot of magnetic putty (what child doesn’t love putty?) for half their retail price.
So what was in our shopping bag?
Zipped sweatshirt, £12.99 (RRP £50)
Joggers, £14.99 (RRP £44)
Trainers, £14.99 (RRP £35)
Sweatshirt shorts, £9.99 (RRP £35)
Floral playsuit, £9.99 (RRP £24.99)
Frill dress, £10 (RRP £50)
Embroidered dress, £12.99 (RRP £40)
That’s £278.99 worth of childrenswear for just £85.94 – how amazing is that? Add in the kite and putty for £4.99 each (total RRP £19.98) and you still have change from £100 – serious saving on seriously stylish spring looks.
