God I loved writing that title! Back in late June, I invested in a pair of Spanx Power Pantys on the recommendation of Nest Goodies contributor Claire who is also behind The Bump Wear Project. These are at once hands down one of the best purchases I’ve ever made and highly recommended, and also the source of a nightmare two hours, where on one of the hottest days of the year, I ripped open the package from ASOS, hoofed my clammy, hot, and swollen self into them…and then couldn’t get them off….for two hours.
And yet, these Power Panties are one of the best things I’ve ever purchased now that I’ve observed the rules:
1. Best to start off with relaxed and cool. Clammy plus Spanx equals wailing down the phone and to anyone who’ll listen on Facebook with an SOS. If you do get ‘trapped’ in them (note it’s caused by panic and heat), calm yourself down or get someone to take them off!
2. Make sure you pull them right up at the thighs and *cough* gusset and pull them up to your chest for maximum svelteness (this is for if you wear the high waisted pairs).
3. Don’t attend press days with burning hot lights otherwise you may feel like you’re going into early menopause…
I own a black pair of the higher power high waisted power panty’s and they instantly slim your tummy, thighs, waist, and bum. Note, they don’t perform miracles and eradicate your tummy altogether but it is an incredible difference and whatever little tummy is left is ‘neat’. The one feature I don’t use is the opening in the gusset which is apparently for when you want to go for a wee without removing your pants – too strange for me!
From £24 at ASOS in S (8-10) up to XL (18) in beige and black if it’s the normal waist. The high waisted ones are £30. You can even get maternity pairs.
If you’ve found yourself panicking about what to wear somewhere because you’re worried about dressing your tummy, worry no more! Highly recommended. Oh and apparently they have lots of celeb fans such as new mum Denise van Outen and Eva Longoria who’ve both been papped with them showing.
