Living in Brighton we have a constant issue with the children on the pebbly beach – trainers/shoes are too hot, whereas sandals just let in the stones and make walking even more painful than it is barefoot. Step forward, SlipFree shoes, one of those ‘why didn’t I think of that’ moments. They are shoes are, as you can probably guess, non-slip shoes for wearing by the swimming pool or on pebbly beaches. They have grippy soles and hi-tech, breathable stretchy, quick dry uppers, ideal for swimming in, and cost £14.95 a pair. As they are so lightweight, they are easily folded up and popped in a bag for holidays, or those after-school summer beach visits. Ranging in size from infant 2 to adult 9.5, they come in a bewildering array of designs, from mermaids to monsters, cars to cupcakes, via graffiti, comic books and, the pattern we were kindly gifted, dinosaurs. Alfie is looking forward to trying them out by the pool on holiday in the summer – hopefully I won’t have to spend forever shouting, ‘Don’t run, you’ll slip!’ at him as a result.
