I remember when I was pregnant and my ma suggested that I get a Silvercross instead of “these new fangled things”. “That’s what they had back in my day, you know!” she declared in mummy- knows-best tones. “Yeah, but I was born in the seventies…prams were practically the size of cars then!”
But…Silvercross seem to be making a bit of a leap in popularity with celebs like JLo, Angelina Jolie, and Gwyneth Paltrow being fans and I saw several people pushing them down Oxford Street on Saturday, with one woman trying to get on a bus… Me thinks that at this size of pram, the bus shouldn’t be an option…
Anyway…I checked out the Silvercross Sleepover Deluxe everyone has been going on about and my first thought was “Well thank God that they’re offering more than a moses basket for over 300 quid!”
It’s a travel system comprising of chasis (really don’t understand why these would be sold separately but they are in some stores…), a carrycot to use as a pram to also use as a moses basket to also use as a reversible pushchair seat, plus a handmade wooden rocking stand, and a cover for converting it into a moses basket. Oh and I mustn’t forget the large shopping basket. You can also use it with the award winning Ventura Plus car seat.
This is the ideal ‘travel system’ to buy if you’re into the traditional look and are a bit posh, or like the idea of being perceived as being posh. I, however, found them a bit underwhelming and they’re still a little big for my liking. They also look a little bulky when the pushchair has the footmuff on.
But, that said, I don’t care what the ‘experts’ advise – people don’t buy pushchairs and prams purely on practicality – they buy what they like. I would buy this if size didn’t matter and I wasn’t into bright colours and funky looking pushchairs! If only they’d gone a little wild and gone for some braver colours, they may have wowed me…
The RRP is around £565 and Kiddicare are selling them for £426.97 with stocks selling fast.
