I do like a quirky crafty kit and these Bear Making Kits by designer Sian Zeng certainly hit the spot. More something for a grownup to do rather than a five and under, the finished bear makes a lovely gift that won’t get be difficult to spot in a deluge of soft toys. The ‘office bear’ is screen printed onto calico fabric and comes with everything needed to make it including child friendly stuffing. £14.95 at the divine Little Baby Company.
Chinese born, Hungarian raised designer Sian has also put her hand to even quirkier toile style woodlands wallpaper which comes in three colour ways, brown/pink, blue, grey, green, and khaki green and is packed full of rich detail to no doubt inspire much storytelling. The eco friendly wallpaper is £65 per 10m roll or if you really want to get your quirk on, she’s also designed magnetic versions of the wallpaper which comes with a cast of five magnets characters with speech bubbles to truly take the story within the paper and your child’s imagination to a whole new level. I can see why Sian has won the Young Talent of the Year award by Elle Decoration and the William Atkinson award from Central St Martins. It doesn’t come cheap though! £248 per 10m roll and includes the magnetic receptive liner paper.
