Now this IS a good idea. After all, who doesn’t love a sequinned cape? We are huge fans of all things sparkly here at BG HQ, so, as you can imagine, our eyes nearly popped out of our heads when we saw these.
A collaboration between the brilliant Selfish Mother (Hi, Molly!) and Pearl Lowe (whose sumptuous Petite Pearl Lowe collection we’ve been coveting for some time), the hooded capes come in four zingy shades (pink, blue, green and red) with contrast (red, green, blue and pink respectively) silky lining and feather-trimmed ribbon ties. The British-made capes are limited-edition, come in sizes S/M and M/L and cost £60 each from The FMLY Store, with £10 from each purchase going to Tommy’s, the baby loss charity.
They feel super-luxe and much more substantial (although not too heavy for little ones) and special than mass-produced dressing up pieces – Kitty (and even too-cool-for-school Alfie) fell immediately in love. You can pre-register here to be the first to know when the capes swoop into store. I can’t be the only one who wishes these came in adult sizes – as usual, I’m going to be envious of the children’s Camp Bestival wardrobe. *sigh*
