Natalie writes…Jaysus, I have to admit I’ve been a bit slow off the mark on this one but I’ve acquired a new interest in Oxfam, namely their online store. I love shopping and I love bargain hunting but I’ve never been a big charity shop shopper (unless I’m in NYC where they are pretty good) but I’m going to start checking in on Oxfam’s online store, which I’ve just read that it made £5m in it’s first year. Nice!
Search wise, it’s a bit of a trek in the baby section where they seem to have only listed a minimal number of brands like Gap and Next, and everything else is under ‘other’, with a lot of the current gear (for me) a bit low rent for my tastes.
In the ladies clothing though, there’s pretty much every single high street brand with a lorra lorra TopShop in there plus a little 7 for All Mankind, DKNY/Donna Karan, Joseph, and more. Much like eBay, you can filter so that you only see stuff in really good condition or brand new with tags (BNWT) etc, plus there are all your other usual sections like homewares, books, and of course men’s clothing.
A quick search on maternity brought up 221 items by your usual suspect brands like Next and Dorothy Perkins, but there are other brands in there including Mamas and Papas.
What’s really great is that there is one flat rate for delivery of £3.50 and there’s free returns too. But be careful whilst you’re browsing away for ages because whatever is in your basket is not yours till your purchase is processed, which means if it’s really hot, someone could get in there before you and snag it, after all, it is one only of each item. Obviously as the price is set, you can snag bargains, but you won’t be able to snag a bargain bargain like on eBay but it all goes to charity.
Check out Oxfam online.
