If you have a spare hour at the weekend, get involved with the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch – it does involved sitting looking out of the window/door for 60 mins, but we do it every year and the children always surprise me by really enjoying it! You can print out spotter sheets to tick off, then upload your results on the website.
We made simple loo roll bird feeders at Woodcraft Folk yesterday to try to encourage more feathered friends to the garden in time for the count, which was a very simple, quick activity requiring only veggie suet/coconut oil, bird seed, skewers, string and, of course, loo rolls. Let us know how you get on.
