Today’s room tour comes from an magnificent blogger from Sydney, Australia. Hayley is Mama to Keely, four and a half and Taj, 22 months. She runs the super cool webshop Little Pinwheel which is packed full of funky clothes modelled by Keely and Taj. Her blog of the same name is a source of daily inspiration as Hayley shares the joy, sadness and everyday of her life.
When I saw her children’s room I was instantly inspired: a space saving solution for young siblings sharing a room. There is room to play, storage and a clever sleeping solution for children too young for bunk beds. Thank you to Hayley, Keely and Taj for sharing this tour with us.
The inspiration for their room came from the love of colour. I love colour themed rooms, with one or two colours, but one that is splashed full of colour can look great too, especially when you start with a white canvas.
I find their space is comfortable to rest in, play in and to just be. Â The colour makes it interesting, playful, but also calming.
I did not really have a full plan for the room. Â I knew I wanted white walls and the main pieces of furniture to be white. Â The rest of the pieces in the room would then work around that. Â I have a love of red and pink together, and I used those as the main plan. Â Once I had a boy I knew I had to add more colour, and it is easy to match colours to red and pink.
I have enjoyed putting it all together. Â The only one thing left is to frame our new pictures and add them to the wall. Â I would love to get a new light and to get a rug on the floor. Â Then I think the room would be complete.
The tip I would give for decorating a room is to start with a blank canvas. Â Do not be afraid to use colour. Red and pink work well together and so do blue and green.

The gorgeous bedding is from Boodalee but unfortunately although you can find their cushions at Little Baby Company there is not currently a UK stockist for the bedding – boo! You can order direct from them and your order will be shipped by UPS Worldwide.
Aspace have a good selection of truckle beds.
The bookcase is an Expedit from Ikea where you can also find the Mammut stools.
The wire chair (picture above) was a lucky find as it is one of a pair of original Harry Bertoia wire chairs Hayley picked up for AUD$100. You can find them for £295 each at Design Icons.
You can find Bilibos in Pink or Green from Amazon.
I love the origami mobile and if you fancy making one this animation should help you to create the birds.
