If there is one thing to lust after for your nursery right now, it’s this soft rocking chair by design duo Committee. Whilst the traditional gliding nursing chairs are practical, you would hardly describe them as stylish, meaning that they are often redundant after you’ve ceased nursing your child and then relegated to the Ebay scrap heap. This soft rocker, however, will look good in any room and this, I feel, goes some way to justifying its eye watering price tag (from £1,375 from SCP). It is currently available from Heal’s (online and in store) and direct from SCP . Of course, you need to be loaded to be shelling out this kind of money so we’ve scaled down our tastes for our favourite buy…

A far more palatable option price wise, is the Lillberg chair by Ikea. It comes in at a cool £83.20, but its price tag is no way indicative of its style. The good thing about this chair it that the cushion covers can easily be customised or reupholstered, to make this chair more colourful or to make it fit in with the theme of your nursery or child’s room.

On the topic of rockers, I just have to pay homage to this Charles Eames design classic which we’ve featured before and appears in many sitting rooms, not just baby nursery’s around the world. Whilst the Eames rocker (around £340) is probably not the most comfortable chair to nurse your child in (we reckon a super stylish cushion is needed here), it’s a beautiful piece of furniture and can adorn any room long after you have ceased nursing. For nursery’s I am particularly loving the sheepskin version available from The Couch Potato Company. The cover can be removed and hand-washed and is £507.
Eames Rockers are widely available amongst others on line at Nest, Pink Apple Designs, SCP and The Coach Potato Company and in store at Liberty.
