You have to hand it to the clever folks at the Gro Company, they are masters of baby and toddler innovation. You can’t help but marvel at their smart gadgets to make life with little ones easier and we have featured several of their products before.
The First Duvet Bedding Set is yet another superb example of their product design. It is a duvet cover, sheet and pillowcase which are ‘integrated’. The pillowcase and sheet are one piece. The duvet cover zips onto the sheet to keep it in place as well as preventing your child from rolling out of bed. It is designed for use by children aged 2 and a half plus.
The Testers: This has been tested by ToddlerGeek our lovely nearly 2 year old.
Appearance: The designs are actually quite funky on the toddler bedding scale. There is a relatively plain striped version in either pink or blue alongside the patterned Little Chick (pictured above),Cheeky Monkey, Cats & Dogs and Space Race (pictured below right). Made from 100% cotton.
Instructions & Set up: If you can make a bed you will be able to manage this easily. The sheet goes on as you’d expect and the pillow slips into the pillowcase. If you are using the grobag first duvet, it poppers inside the duvet cover at the corners giving it extra staying power. I used a regular duvet which worked just as well.
In Use: It has a nice chunky zip which is easy to use in the dark and is concealed under a flap when done up. ToddlerGeek loved being zipped into the duvet. There was plenty of space for her to move around (and she moves around a lot) in her sleep. Compared to a regular bedding set it was a dream – all of her wriggling couldn’t dislodge it and she ended the night as she began, snugly tucked up. We took it with us when we visited friends and family and instead of faffing about with a travel cot simply zipped her into a spare bed.
Any negatives: None that we experienced.
Price: between £34.99 – £44.99 for a bedding set, £19.99 for a first duvet and £8.75 for a spare sheet from Bumpto3.
Overall: Another triumph from Gro Company. If your child is a wriggler no doubt they will already have a grobag sleeping bag and this is a perfect next step.
Verdict: 4.5/5
