My husband, Mr Kat, has long been a fan of the Cuddledry Baby Apron Bath Towel since seeing it on Dragon’s Den a couple of years ago. He takes great amusement from saying ‘literally cuddle the baby dry’ when attempting to dry one of our squirming offspring in a too small baby towel. So it should not have surprised me that I have barely had a look in on the Cuddledry Baby Apron Bath Towel we were sent for review.
The Testers: Me, Mr Kat, Monty and Milla – 5 months and 2 years old respectively.
Appearance: We had the original which is white on the drying side and a fudge colour on the outside. It is made from organic unbleached cotton and natural bamboo fibre. It also comes in: giraffe print, cow print, gingham trimmed organic and as a special kangaroo care charity edition.
Set Up & Instructions: Once you’ve figured out which way round it goes it is very easy. It has a popper to secure it at the neck which makes it easy to get on and off.
In Use: In use it is great. While you’re bathing the baby it acts as protection from splashing for you – particularly helpful when you have a toddler ‘helping out’. When you’re ready to dry the baby, you lift the straight out and then bring the bottom hooded corner of the towel up to cover their head and then cuddle the baby dry. It is simple yet clever all at once. Without the Cuddledry the easiest way to transfer from bath to towel is to lay the towel on the floor and then lay the baby on it before picking him up. Monty has previously mentioned that he is not a fan of this method (via some crazed yelling). As the towel is already in place you can keep both hands on the baby – great as often our baby resembles a squirming greased piglet post bath. As it is so large we have also used it for our toddler no problems.
The fabric is super soft and washes well, even after being hung out on a windy day it is soft and fluffy. We have found it far more absorbent than any other towel we’ve used and it isn’t soaked after use because of its unique two layer design.
Any Negatives: I leaned over the bath and draped the towel in the water once but, that said, it was still more than adequate when it came to drying.
Price: £24.99 + P&P
Overall: 5/5 An innovative product, it really is a must have.
