Review: Brother Max 4 Large Food Portioners

May 6, 2008. Leave a Comment

Brother Max 4 Large Food PortionersNatalie writes…

The idea: Brother Max are a company comprising of new parents who want to make everyday tasks simpler and less time consuming by designing easy to use products.

The 4 Large Food Portioners are suitable for freezer, microwave, dishwasher, and steriliser.

All of the pots click together so that you can fill them straight from the pan and store them easily as a group. When you’re ready to use one, unclick a pot and you press the base with your thumb and the frozen food pops out.

My opinion – I am disappointed that they don’t live up to the image in the photo. I do love good looking, functional products and thought they looked futuristic with the transparent appearance and coloured press points. The reality – they’re not clear; they’re a pale blue. There is a hell of a lot of lighting in the picture above.

If they’re selling this mainly on making pouring out large batches easier, these are very suited to people who do quite large batches in one go. These pots are pretty big and that’s a lorra lorra puree in that batch to fill all 4!

They’re fairly straightforward to use but when you actually use the pot to feed, beware of the lid as let’s just say that I brushed past the lid on the table and it catapulted off the table sending pureed chicken in a rather bright orange cheddar sauce all over my wall and several pieces of furniture…

They are actually a little fiddly to use. Not so much putting them together, but actually opening them is a bit of a mare sometimes. When they aren’t grouped and the lid is open with food in it, they become an accident waiting to happen. Personally, I am wary of using these for feeding out of – storing yes, feeding no.

Overall 3/5 Of all of the things I have ever used since having a baby, no one thing has created as much mess, including my baby. They make pouring out large batches of food and storing it easier but I’m not sold on the overall concept.
