I’ve always found the glossy, black and red products from Swedish company Playsam a little too macho for my tastes: indeed, a lot of their range is labelled as ‘executive toys’, and clearly isn’t aimed at kids at all. But I was won over by the simplicity and bright colours of their little sail boat. Plus, at £9.00 (and even with the £4.45 shipping) from Little Baby Company, it’s a very reasonable way to get hold of a little of Playsam’s bright gloss – those executive toys normally come at executive prices. Be aware though, it’s a toy for holding and exploring rather than actually sailing: its weight means it’ll sink in water. Little Baby Company also offer the boat in white and red, and there’s a blue and white version, which, as far as I can see, is available only from the official Swedish Playsam shop, where shipping at over £15.00, bulks the price up considerably.
Here’s a plan, though: if you have parents-to-be to buy a gift for, you could also put the rather adorable Playsam pram into your basket. It’s just over £50, but shipping remains the same when you buy both items. Again, a far softer side of Playsam than I have seen before – and again, not yet available in the UK according to a thorough Google on my part.
