Ah, the minefield that is children’s shoe shopping. I don’t know anyone who enjoys it. I personally favour measuring at home and buying on the web these days, but great online children’s shoe stores are few and far between. So, I was interested to see what Pisamonas, an established Spanish footwear retailer recently launched in the UK, had to offer.
Why we love? There’s a huge range of styles here. Yes, some of them are very traditional (there are even a few pastels – gasp!), but they sit alongside cool desert boots with contrasting laces, Menorcan Avarca sandals and colourful Mary Janes (check out the blue pair, above). You can also stock up on practical essentials such as socks, tights and wellies. Delivery is free and, important if you’re not entirely sure of sizing, so are returns.
Three cool buys: You know that we’re all about the colour, so it’s no surprise that our picks are bright and bold. First up, the fire engine red suede Safari Chukka boots, leather lined, with child-friendly riptape fastening, a snip at £19.95. Secondly, the Bensimon-alike laceless plimsolls, available in eight colours (our favourite is the spring green), £17. And, because all this cold weather is making us dream of summer days, the silver plaited leather Roman sandals, £29 – I’d actually like them in my size!
