Never has a test product caused so much excitement at Bambino Goodies but when Milla and Saria were sent LIKEaBIKEs to trial there were squeals, clapping and jumping for joy (and yes, not just from the girls!) Milla has been testing the LIKEaBIKE Mini while Saria will be giving you her verdict on the LIKEaBIKE Jumper next month.
Bambino Goodies readers can take advantage of an exclusive offer of a free helmet worth £30 with any LIKEaBIKE bike purchase until 30th June 2010. Simply place your order by phone and mention Bambino Goodies when you do.
LIKEaBIKE is designed and manufactured by German company Kokua. Their revolutionary design has removed the pedals and stabalisers from bikes and made it possible for children as young as 18 months to learn to ride a bike. Without the complication of pedaling the principles of balance and steering are picked up easily and children are able to refine their technique. The LIKEaBIKE Mini is a wooden balance bike suitable from 18 months to 4 years (minimum inside leg 27cm). It is handcrafted from sustainable birch marine plywood and is finished to an exceptionally high standard. The manufacturers are so confident in their quality they offer a two year guarantee.
Testers: This has been tested (daily) by Milla, a petite 33 months and by her 20 month old chum.
Appearance: The LIKEaBIKE Mini is seriously sleek. The curves and colour of the wood are beautiful and everyone we encounter stops to admire it.
Instructions and Set Up: Setting up the bike is very simple, it is just a case of attaching the handlebars with the provided allen key. It has full instructions for use, maintenance and adjustment which are clear and easy to follow. We have adjusted the seat and pumped the tyres all without issue.
In Use: It only took my daughter one trip around the garden to get the hang of how to use the bike. Within a week she was confidently steering and racing off around the park. As she rides it you can see her balance developing which has had a knock on effect to her physical abilities on the whole. The patented steering prevents jack knifing whilst still allowing the child to direct the bike easily. The pneumatic tyres, padded seat and rubber grips make riding comfortable. As the wheels don’t have spokes there is nothing to trap small fingers. When our friend’s 20 month old toddler tried it out I was apprehensive that it may be too difficult for such a young toddler but with plenty of ‘help’ from the older children she too was riding like a pro.
Any Negatives?: We have not found any negatives and when I asked my daughter she said only good things about her bike.
Price: The LIKEaBIKE Mini is £159.
Overall: Your child’s first bike is a milestone and one of those moments you dream about as a parent. The LIKEaBIKE Mini is the perfect first bike allowing even young toddlers to learn the skills of bike riding. LIKEaBIKEs are very well made and it is clear that they will last your family for many years to come. 5/5 Take a look at the film to see for yourself:
