My love for children’s magazine Okido knows no bounds. There is always huge excitement chez nous when a new issue comes out and rarely a week goes by when we don’t read My Head-to-Toe Body Book. Consequently, Alfie is able to talk confidently about what white and red blood cells do and explain the functions of the organs of the body. Needless to say, the news that there was a new book, My Big World (Thames & Hudson, RRP £12.95) coming out was met with squeals of delight and the fact that it’s about the world (current obsession thanks to Christmas present of a pop-up Atlas) made it all the more appealing.
As you’d expect, the travels of two children, Koko and Alex, are beautifully illustrated and the book is packed with facts, puzzles, recipes and simple craft projects. I’ve already ordered a couple as gifts and no doubt there’ll be a few more winging their way to Alfie’s friends later in the year.
