I am spending New Year’s Eve at a friend’s house (thanks for the invite, Suzi) and we’re planning on having a few drinks, dirty laughing and keeping the kids entertained while they inevitably trash the house… standard behaviour when we get together! Anyway, I have been looking at how we can get the kids involved with the countdown and I love the Countdown Balloons I have been eyeballing everywhere.
The premise is pretty basic; you have balloons and you add a time to each of them and pop them at that time. Easy, right? You can up your game and create a clock or you could fill them with glitter or confetti (the house will need hoovering anyway!) or, and this is what I am going to do, create a task/activity to go in each one!
It’s up to you how you do it – there are so many variations out there, to the eye candy delights above to Sharpies on plain balloons. Unless I get some time (looking unlikely!) we will be going down the Sharpie route. I’ve created a list of tasks/activities (and one sneaky chore) and to keep it super-easy for you, you can download that list, too. Just print, cut each one out and roll them in to each balloon as you blow them up. If you have helium to hand you get bonus points! There are 12 tasks to choose from but, unless you’re at home all day, you’ll only need a few of them.
Enjoy, and have a very Happy New Year!
