We’ve raved about Swedish company Toca Boca‘s super-cool games before and their Tea Party is one of Alfie’s favourite apps when we’re on the go (and, recently, a godsend during speeches at a wedding). The latest offering, Toca Store, is a triumph. After all, who knows a toddler who doesn’t love playing shops? Not me. And this is, as they put it themselves, ‘a store play set in your pocket’. First you choose the products you want to sell from a catalogue of images, then you place an item on the counter, decide how much it will be and tap the blue button on the till.
This activates the cute little purse from which your toddler has to extract the correct number of coins to place in the till. Once they have the shopping bag appears and the item can be placed inside. Repeat and continue with different items until all the coins are gone, then a receipt will appear and you can start over. Alfie has really enjoyed playing with this and it’s obviously great for counting and basic maths skills. Another Toca winner.
