The boyf and I are big fans of wooden toys but we could be drawn to this My First Eco Radio because despite the fact that it’s a ‘noisy toy’, it has no batteries in it.
It’s made from standard ABS plastic (it took a fair amount of digging to find this out) but it uses a wind up mechanism to play lights and sounds to amuse on cue, such as Old McDonald.
It’s packaging is biodegradable and made from 100% recycled paper, plus there are none of the annoying ties or wires that drive me to distraction.
Suitable from 12 months.
Whilst this is a noisy toy that may wind you up more than they wind it up, I think it’s brilliant that it can achieve the sounds sans batteries which helps reduce the number of batteries sent to landfill. Ecotronic have a whole range of toys based around their wind up technology.
