Planning how I will decorate the little one’s room when she’s a bit older is probably one of my favourite daydreams, so I was immediately struck by these mirrored butterflies, and began imagining an entire little girl’s room to go with them.
I found them in Really Linda Barker, of all places. (Why did I get sent this catalogue? Why? Why? Answers on a postcard, please…) I was literally just about to throw the catalogue in the bin when my eye was caught by the butterflies. The picture shows them used in a bathroom, which I have to say I’m not so keen on. But used on the wall of a little girl’s room they’d be just lovely.
Pretty, but not too cutesy, I think they’d look just fab ‘flying’ up a wall or a wardrobe. I’m thinking white walls, I’m thinking gingham curtains, white painted furniture, and a flock of these sparkling away. Gorgeous.
If you’ve a little boy, there’s no need to feel left out. There are mirrored penguins, too. These have a slightly frosty, arctic feel to them, and would be great with palest icy blue walls.
Either butterflies or penguins come with self-adhesive pads on the back, and are made from acrylic (perhaps not as nice as real mirror… but then again, no need to fear them falling and shattering). A set of 5 of either butterflies or penguins costs £29.95 from Really Linda Barker.
