Regular readers will know that we’re BIG fans of capes here at BG – our No Sew hooded cape tutorial is consistently our most read post, the BG kids are often to be found running around with capes flying behind them at festivals and my Rosa Bloom capelet is my go-to party outfit. So, I was super excited when I spotted a Let Us Pretend cape over on Welsh comedian Kiri Pritchard-McLean’s Insta feed. A veritable utopia for sequin fans, Let Us Pretend is home to a rainbow of shimmering capes for kids and adults that you can customise with letters, lightning bolts, fabric panels, tinsel trim or all of the above. Founder Susie is a self-confessed sparkle lover and has sourced some amazing materials to create her capes, rosettes and superhero masks.
I decided to treat myself to celebrate the children going back to school and I’m already obsessed with my leopard shortie cape (yes, yes, yes to sequin leopard print), which I’ll be wearing ALL Christmas. Prices start from £7 for superstar masks, £10 for rosettes and £26 for capes. There are also some seriously stylish sequin face masks, from £8.50, to add a dose of glam to your supermarket shop.
