So popular it’s already sold out online, but sprint down to your local LEGO store and you might just be lucky enough to pick up a Research Institute set, £15.99. Yes, it’s the antidote to those insipid LEGO Friends, three female scientist minifigures in their workplaces. You get a paleontologist with a dinosaur skeleton and microscope, astronomer with telescope and star chart and chemist with lab. Alfie, a budding scientist, chose to buy this with his saved pennies and I’m choosing to think that the feminist angle, not just the science bits appealed to him, so *proud mama face*. I’m going to go and buy a set for my nieces (if there are any left). PS: The box states 10+, but Alfie (five and a half) managed to do most of it on his own (see below).
