Arf kids brought us the Kidsleep clock, one of a couple of devices on the market that promise to make it easy for children to tell the time. Crucially, to tell whether or not it’s too early to go and disturb mum and dad of a morning. As to whether or not it works, I have only anecdotal evidence: our problem was always – and continues to be – around getting to sleep at the other end of the night!
So we might consider Arf to have carved out a niche around kids and time issues. Here’s their new product, the Kwid, a watch that’s designed to make activity-based time restrictions very easy – in fact, something the kid can take control of.
A sand-timer animation helps with countdowns, and could conceivably be used to dictate how long kiddo is allowed on the computer, time left in the park, or minutes spent tooth-brushing. There’s also a clock display which, by flashing the hour, apparently makes it easier to tell the time, and then there are a couple of cartoons just for fun.
High design it isn’t, but if your family is experiencing any of the many anxieties that can occur around time, it may be worth the £27.00 price (inc p&p) to you.
