When we were hunting down a play kitchen for Alfie for Christmas I had two criteria: 1. It had to be wooden. 2. It shouldn’t look too girlie. After much searching and factoring in size and budget, this little beauty from German toy company Howa won hands down. It arrived flat-packed but once put together (thanks for all the hard work, Dad!) looks terrific,  is incredibly sturdy and also great value for money (for the superb quality) at about £120, including speedy shipping from Germany. The design is simple and stylish and I particularly like details such as the stainless steel-effect fridge and ceramic hob. Needless to say, HestonAlfie was immediately smitten (see below), cooking up a wooden feast in his Plan Toys pans, opening and shutting doors, twiddling knobs and even running a duster over the hob! Perhaps I can I have my kitchen back now?
Check out the site for some other great buys. The kitchen is available in alternative colours and smaller and larger versions. I have my eye on the breakfast set (below, about £40) and toy shops as future buys and the dolls’ houses and associated kit look fab, too.
