House of Fraser is something of a high-street stalwart, having been around since 1849. But for an old timer it has a surprising amount of funky, fashionable goodies for your little ones.
Why we love it. It’s a one-stop shop in terms of childrenswear with ranges from newborn to teen and everything in between. There’s also a vast toy department and nursery essentials, plus you can stock up on Benefit make-up or, in my case, Serge Lutens perfume, while you’re there.
Three cool buys. If you’re a regular reader you’ll know that we adore Polarn O. Pyret. House of Fraser has a ginormous collection of PoP clothing, so we had to include something from the range. This bright yolk yellow cat vest, £14, is so jolly – team with denim dungarees or bright trousers. Talking of dungarees, I couldn’t resist this starry pair from Toby Tiger, £25.99 – how could anyone? Finally, I’d really like this 50s-style striped skirt, £24, in my size! It’s by Yumi Girls, a quirky brand whose clothes feature tropical prints and vintage-inspired shapes.
Brands. Too many to mention. From the high end (Ralph Lauren Junior, Armani Junior, Barbour, Hugo Boss) to the high-street (Joules, Benetton, Petit Bateau, Pumpkin Patch, French Connection) via a few less well-known labels, such as Howick Junior, Name It and Little Dickens & Jones. The footwear section has big names like Converse, Ugg and Havaianas, while you’ll find Hamley’s, Galt and Steiff in the toy department.
