I remember when Jools Oliver first launched Little Bird at Mothercare back in 2012 – a large portion of Kitty’s wardrobe was made up from the collection. The decidedly 70s vibe and rainbow palette were immediately appealing to colour-loving parents nostalgic for their 70s and 80s childhoods and many mourned its demise when Mothercare closed in 2020.
Next picked up the baton a year later, but I felt the range lost its way a little amongst the swathes of neutrals and pastels flooding the high street. So, I was delighted to see the denim collection, which plonks Little Bird firmly back in vintage-inspired territory. Retro shape pinafores, skirts, jeans and, my favourite, gilets feature rainbow piping and sunburst embroidery. Sizes range from twelve months to ten years and prices start from £22. Do also check out the fabulous range of multicoloured footwear (also available in adult sizes!) and the amazing rainbow puffer coats, guaranteed to bring joy to the greyest of days.
