It’s UK Wool Week, so we thought we’d celebrate by highlighting five fabulous purveyors of the fluffy stuff. (If this were a 10 Best, we’d definitely be including The Bonnie Mob and Tootsa McGinty as their knits are perfection, but you know that, right?)
If you fancy working with wool yourself, check out Wool and the Gang‘s brilliant kits and patterns.
First up, Mabli. I do love a Welsh brand, particularly one that takes inspiration from traditional tapestry blankets (I’m obsessed with them and lucky enough to have a few) for its adorable retro knitwear.
Teifi romper, from £65, Mabli.
One of Alfie’s all-time favourite items of clothing are his 24-Hour Trousers from Smalls. Their micro-spun merino base layers are lightweight but super-warm and wash absolutely brilliantly.
The Best Long Sleeve Tee, £44.50, Smalls.
Can you beat an old-fashioned Fair Isle sweater? Yes, you can, with a contemporary update on the classic style from new Brit brand The Faraway Gang. We love the neon pops of colours in these modern twists.
Daydreamer jumper, £75, The Faraway Gang.
Specialists in merino base layers in luscious colours (leggings, above, £32), Superlove have released a limited-edition floral pattern sleeping bag called Secret Garden for this year’s Wool Week.
Superfine merino base layer leggings, £32, Superlove.
We featured Amamaya‘s super-soft Lukla base layers a while back – now my thoughts have turned to which colour double pom hats to buy for Alfie and Kitty.
Gokyo merino hat, £25, and Lukla base layer, £45, Amamaya.
