As we’re in the midst of Fairtrade Fortnight, I thought I’d share one of my favourite ethical children’s companies. Sri Lanka-based Weaving Hope is a community of women producing handwoven, hand-dyed cotton toys and accessories in an array of cheerful colours.
Toys are largely animal-themed, and range from a baby turtle, £8.50, to this, frankly amazing, whale and friends, £16.50, and accessories include gorgeous aprons, £12.50, and cute totes, £6.
But the biggest draw has to be this fabulous cotton kitchen (pictured top) – complete with hob, pans, utensils and foo, it’s a bargain at £36.50, folds away after playtime and as a bonus can be washed.
